July 21

Gua Maria Sawer Rahmat, Cisantana, Cigugur, Kuningan, West Java, Indonesia

In 1979, Indonesian Catholics built a Marian grotto on Totombok hill, 2300 feet high, at the foot of Mt. Cereme. In the local Sundanese language, totombok means "suffering losses." But according to the Banten World travel agency, "after they built the Grotto, the farmers gain profit well; feel happy and thankful to Our Lady for fertile land and peaceful life." Josef Cardinal Tomko of Slovakia dedicated the grotto on July 21, 1990. (Information from "Banten World,' Bali, Indonesia, www.indo.com/travel_agents/bantenworld/schedule.html.
